FINTRAC’s financial intelligence was recognized by the Ontario Provincial Police in relation to Project Uptown, a human trafficking investigation that began in October 2022. As a result of the investigation, six individuals have been charged with 81 criminal offences, and five victims have been identified and are receiving necessary support. A total of $1,100 in Canadian currency was seized and more than 30 grams of various illicit substances were recovered.
