News release: Update: Project Leadline uncovers drug network, money laundering
FINTRAC’s financial intelligence was recognized by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) in relation to Project Leadline, a lengthy organized crime investigation in southwest Alberta. As a result of this investigation, nine individuals have been charged with 63 offences, including participation in a criminal organization, drug trafficking, criminal conspiracy and money laundering. In total, $2.5 million in assets linked to drug trafficking were restrained.
