Mr. Angelo Brete

Milángelo (Angelo) Brete is currently serving as the Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit of Aruba (FIU), concurrently holding the esteemed position of Chair of the Caribbean Financial Action Taskforce for the term spanning November 2023 to 2024. With a career marked by notable achievements, Angelo played a pivotal role in orchestrating Aruba's successful preparation for its fourth round of mutual evaluation. His journey began in 1995 as a senior auditor at a prominent accounting firm, and since then, he has ascended to senior roles encompassing prudential supervision of financial institutions, internal auditing, and academic business management. Driven by a deep-seated commitment to public service, Angelo transitioned into governmental advisory roles, initially as the Financial Policy Advisor to the Ministry of Justice of the Government of Aruba. Subsequently, he assumed the role of Chief Financial Officer of the Department of Finance, contributing significantly to the financial reporting discipline of the Aruban public sector. Angelo's leadership philosophy is rooted in core principles of self-awareness, authenticity, collaboration, and unwavering integrity. His academic journey, culminating in a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration from the University of the Netherlands Antilles and a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from the University of Groningen, has profoundly shaped both his character and career trajectory.
