Lieutenant Colonel Keron Burrell
Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Keron Burrell has an extensive career in financial supervision dating back to 2008. He is currently the Executive Director of the Financial Services Commission (FSC), having been seconded from the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) where he was the Chief Prudential Officer (CPO), Financial Institutions Supervisory Division (FISD). As Executive Director, Lt Col Burrell is charged with delivering an effective regulatory programme, which provides adequate safeguards for all stakeholders, and preserves confidence in Jamaica’s financial system. With the operationalization of the Twin Peaks Model of Supervision, designed to create a more robust financial system for the Jamaican economy, he is tasked with the build out and implementation of the Market Conduct and Consumer Protection (Risk-Based Supervision) Framework. Additionally, as Jamaica remains on the cutting edge of the financial landscape, the FSC and Lt Col Burrell have direct responsibility for the eventual supervision and regulation of the country’s Virtual and Digital Assets Framework. Lt Col Burrell also has an extensive Military career, which commenced in 2004. He currently serves in the Jamaica National Reserve as the Commanding Officer of the Third Battalion, the Jamaica Regiment National Reserve, where he has responsibility for the welfare of several service men and women. Lt Col Burrell holds a M.Sc. in Accounting and a B.Sc. in Economics and Accounting from the University of the West Indies. Lt Col Burrell is an avid reader and enjoys watching soccer and running in his spare time.
